Origin of Zi Ping Method
Zi Ping Bazi, also known as Four Pillars destiny analysis, uses the heavenly stems and earthly branches of the birth year, month, day and hour as four pillars, taking the day stem as the native and inferring life patterns through monthly command, five-element generation and restraint, and ten-god relationships. The method is attributed to Xu Ziping of the Song dynasty and is regarded as the orthodox system of Bazi divination.
Day stem as the center
The day stem is taken as the Day Master, representing the native self. The other three pillars unfold ten-god relationships around it, forming symbolic systems of family, career and wealth.
Monthly branch sets the pattern
The monthly branch is the outline that governs the strength of the five elements. The pattern is determined by the main qi penetrating to the stems, setting the level and favorable direction of the chart.
Luck cycles forward or backward
Major luck cycles start from the month pillar: forward for yang males and yin females, backward for yin males and yang females, with each cycle spanning ten years.
Balance the five elements
After analyzing the strength of the Day Master, the elements that support or restrain it to achieve balance are favorable gods, while excessive draining or overwhelming elements are harmful gods.
